Another 600 children have been assisted with school needs during the 2008/09 holiday season in preparation for the year ahead. This in addition to the 400 children assisted two years ago, brings the total to 1000 gift parcels which have been given out to children in Sri Lanka to assist them with various items needed to attend school. This year the main items requested included school bags, books and stationary items. Previously the parcels have included uniforms and shoes. This years project was launched at the Hampton Park Carols by Candlelight, with a special collection that was made, and subsequently money has been raised through personal donations from the members at Casey Life Church.
Entire families were invited along to special events where the parcels were distributed, and free meals given out to all who came. It is our prayer these children and their families will be encouraged in knowing that people care.
